Styling the Latest Kid’s Trends: Expectations vs. Reality

What you expect kids’ clothing to be and what it actually is are seldom different. There is a stark contrast between expectations vs. reality. In general, people think kids’ dresses should be stylish, cute, and well-made. As many have learnt with their kids, the reality of kids’ dressing is quite different.

You may choose to always dress your kids up; you will find that every parent loves dressing their kids up. It gives them a better understanding of how to control their expectation and a better understanding as to the real look of clothes.

For instance, if you try to shoot a street style image with your kids, it is highly likely that you will get more tears. Rather than this, take the relaxed approach. In fact, you must let your kid develop a fashion sense. This way, you will be able to take photographs that will bring memories from time to time.

What Do Parents Think About Their Kids’ Dressing?

The following is a list of expectations vs. reality that you must know about kids’ dressing:

  1. The first expectation example is that a kids matching sets can only be paired together. In reality you will find that in reality an orange plaid top with matching shorts can also be paired with denim short, various skirts. The top can be universal and not just paired with the intended shorts. Not to mention with kids, you never know whether they will be in the same outfit at the end of the day as they were at the beginning of the day.
  2. Another expectation is that some good accessories can transform your child into a fashion icon. The reality of this is that your child will have very different tastes to you. What they may find the perfect outfit may look like a concoction of unmatching clothes to you. Not to mention children has a tendency to remove most accessories as they find them uncomfortable and in the way of their daily activities.

You are more likely to find that your child will prefer to follow kids’ trend that prioritize both comfort and style, whilst reflecting their own interests such as the shows they watch or the music they love. They will fall head over heels for an outfit that consists of a t-shirt with their favorite cartoon character on with a pair of boys stacked flares influenced by their favorite music artist.

The same expectations come from dressing your child in a hand made item made by a family member. The idea and look may seem great but in reality, your child may hate the idea not to mention the material as if it’s knitted the item of clothing may be itchy and irritated. In cases like this its important to read the emotions of your child as you may find they become grumpy and will try discard the item at every opportunity.

Or you may follow one of the latest trends and find that you kid loves them but the reality of wearing them on a regular basis isn’t practical. This is especially relevant when it comes to shoes, crocs have been all the Rager in kids’ trends, but they tend to be rather expensive and do not hold up well in different seasons.

Trust Your Child’s Instincts

The way you want your child to dress might not be suitable for your child. Although dressing your kids might be fun, you must realize that it is better to let your kids decide from a variety of choices. Hence, you must always try to manage your expectations.
